When choosing the best films, it is most natural to turn to reviews of both professional film critics and a wide audience. This is what we did when compiling the current rating of the best films of 2013. Our ten list includes films that received high marks from critics and viewers on the Kinopoisk and Megacritic portals.
The rating contains films belonging to various genres, but more than half were shot on various literary works.

10. Captives

8. Before midnight
The film is the best of the trilogy, which includes the paintings "Before Dawn" and "Before Sunset." The melodrama is dedicated to the love of a man and a woman who have been together for many years. “Autumn” reigns in a relationship, and overcoming it forms the basis of the plot.
7. Dirt
The British comedy drama was released in September 2013. The main character is a corrupt police officer Bruce Robertson, who is addicted to drugs and sex. The addictions greatly prevent Robertson from standing guard over the law.
6. A boyfriend from the future
Fantastic comedy by British director Richard Curtis makes you believe in time travel. A handsome and talented lawyer goes to the past to charm the girl of his dreams. Unfortunately, the first date has to be repeated many times before the beauty’s heart trembles.
5. Metallica: Through the impossible
The adventure musical is a hybrid of concert and feature film. The picture was not just the best biography of the famous group. In the center of the story is the story of a member of the group’s technical team, who is supposed to deliver a bag with mysterious contents to the performance.
4. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
The continuation of the story of Katness Everdeen, who won the Hunger Games, beats all film distribution ratings. However, it again enters the Arena, where opponents are even more dangerous, and the stakes are incredibly high. The film is based on the book Susan Collins, “And the Flames Cry.”
3. The Great Gatsby
Dropped to third place in the ranking, the film with Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role. The action takes place in 1922 on the "golden" coast of Long Island among the luxurious villas of the American rich. The picture is a film adaptation of the novel of the same name by F.S. Fitzgerald. The plot tells the viewer the story of a bygone era, impossible love and human tragedy.
2. Gravity
A fantastic thriller about the space travel of Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant specialist in medical engineering. During the crash, the shuttle dies and Stone remains in the company of astronaut Matt Kowalski. Together they have to fight for life.
1. Race
Headed the rating of 2013, the film “Race”. The 1970s became the golden age for Formula 1 racing. The plot focuses on the rivalry of two irreconcilable racers: Englishman James Hunt and Australian Nicky Laud. One of them is a handsome lovelace, the second is a serious perfectionist. But both are equally stubborn in the pursuit of victory.

The film, based on the novel by Yann Martel, became a New Year's gift for the Russians - its premiere took place on January 1, 2013. The tape received 11 Oscar nominations, and was eventually awarded four statuettes. According to the plot of this fantasy drama, the main character named Pi finds himself in a boat in the middle of the ocean in the company of a zebra, hyena, tiger and orangutan.
Oblivion
A fantastic action movie with Tom Cruise and Olga Kurylenko in the lead roles talks about the life of people above the clouds on a post-apocalyptic Earth. The protagonist suffers from recurring dreams with scraps of memories. The answer comes from a girl rescued from a crashed spaceship who turned out to be a long-forgotten wife.
42 (Forty two)
This biographical drama talks about how black baseball player Jackie Robinson and Brooklyn Dodgers club president Branch Ricky staged a real revolution in sports. The road for African Americans to the heights of the sports Olympus was opened back in 1947. The role of Branch Ricky was performed by the magnificent Harrison Ford.
Pacific Rim
The fantastic action movie tells the next story of the struggle with aliens from the deep sea. The former pilot and the "green" trainee will have to save humanity from death. Leading the battle of the huge robot Jaeger, together they prevent the apocalypse.
Legend number 17
The film tells the career of the legendary Soviet hockey player Valery Kharlamov, as well as the first match of 1972 in the USSR-Canada Super Series. The role of Kharlamov was played by Danila Kozlovsky. A special show of the tape was organized for the Russian junior hockey team. The film received rave reviews from professional critics, as well as the sports, political and cinema elite.
Spell
The plot of this thriller is based on the real story of the Perron family. Family members claimed to be surrounded by a host of good and evil ghosts. The story originates in the 1970s in a house on Rhode Island, where Perrons lived.
Iron Man 3
The third part is the first movie in the Iron Man series, shot not by John Favreau. The change of director, however, did not affect popularity - the film is popular with viewers around the world. In the third part, Stark will not only defeat the enemies, but also answer the question: what is more important - a suit or a living person?
Illusion of deception
According to the plot of this criminal thriller, a team of the world's best illusionists is carrying out incredibly daring robberies right under the nose of FBI agents. Released on May 21, the film has already raised more than $ 255 million, having paid off its own budget three times.
Star Trek: Into Darkness
The long-awaited gift for all fans of the Enterprise team was released on May 2, 2013. Upon returning to Earth, the crew discovers that the world is plunging into the abyss, and the fleet is inactive, engulfed in inexplicable horror. Captain Kirk has to assume the role of savior of mankind.
Rust and bone
The drama of the French director Jacques Odiar is a brilliant film adaptation of the eponymous storybook of Canadian Craig Davidson. The film was nominated for the Golden Branch of the Cannes Film Festival, and also awarded the Spanish film award Goya, as the best European film. The drama reveals the relationship between a single father and a disabled girl.
Love does not love
The Russian premiere of this comedy melodrama took place on January 31, 2013. In the story, the successful writer Margot is torn between a tender attachment to her husband and an irresistible attraction to a pretty neighbor.
Anna Karenina
A film adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's famous novel with Keira Knightley in the title role was presented to Russian viewers on January 10, 2013. The film received an Oscar for the best costume design. The painting was nominated for the Golden Globe in the nomination "Best Music". Part of the filming of "Anna Karenina" took place in Karelia on the island of Kizhi.
Jack Richer
As already noted, the rating of films in 2013 was rich in adaptation. The crime thriller starring Tom Cruise was shot based on the novel Shot by writer Lee Child. In the story, a former army sniper is accused of killing five random passers-by. To find out the truth and find the true culprit by force to retired military police investigator Jack Reacher.
Impossible
One of the two European films that fell into our rating was shot by the Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona. The drama tells about the events that occurred during the tsunami in Southeast Asia in 2004. Naomi Watts, who played a major female role in the film, was awarded an Oscar nomination.
KO. Good day to die
This time, the adventures of Joan McClain are unfolding in Moscow, and the ageless hero will save the world in the company of his own son. Bruce Willis said in an interview that the current fifth of Die Hard is not the last. By the way, most of the filming took place not in Moscow, but in Budapest.
