The largest car manufacturers in the world now go almost on a par. We present to your attention the ranking of the Top 10 according to the results of sales in 2009. The well-known institute of market research IHS Automotive also analyzed the development perspective until 2015.

1. Toyota

Toyota in 2009 was No. 1 in the global ranking of car manufacturers. Toyota sold 7.4 million cars and light commercial vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tons. The well-known market research institute, IHS Automotive, predicts that by 2015 Toyota will increase the number of cars produced to 10.2 million.

2. Volkswagen

In 2009, VW Group became number 2. The number of produced cars and commercial vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tons amounted to 6.4 million units. The Wolfsburg concern is going to significantly narrow the gap to the leader: the expected sales per year are projected at 9.1 million cars. Until 2018, Volkswagen intends to become the No. 1 company in the world. At the same time, Suzuki's partner was not yet taken into account - only 9 brands from 7 European countries were counted: Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda, VW Nutzfahrzeuge, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Scania. Porsche will be taken into account in general statistics from 2011.

3. General Motors

The world leader, the General Motors concern, is stepping up its financial recovery and striving for success. According to IHS forecasts, the number of sales will increase from 6.1 to 8.6 million by 2015. Thus, the American concern is and will remain in the near future in 3rd place.

4. Hyundai

Hyundai, together with its subsidiary Kia, is considered the most aggressive and fastest growing automobile brand in the world. According to IHS Automotive, current No. 4 will increase its sales in the near future from 5.0 to 6.3 million vehicles a year.

5. Ford

Ford is the 2nd largest American producer of the Big Three. In 2009, the concern took 5th place, over the next 5 years, its production volume will grow to 6.1 million cars. Not the least role in this will play and the recovery of the American market, which is currently the second in the world after the Chinese.

6. Honda

Honda is the 2nd largest Japanese automaker. In the world ranking for 2009, the company took 6th place with the amount of 3.4 million. By 2015, growth is expected to reach 5.2 million.

7. Peugeot-Citroen

The French concern PSA took 7th place, selling 3.2 million Citroen and Peugeot cars in 2009. Estimated growth to 4.1 million.

8. Nissan

Nissan sold about 3.1 million cars in 2009, excluding its strategic partner Renault. This allowed Nissan to take an honorable 8th place in the world ranking. Until 2015, the number of Nissan will increase to 4.9 million per year.

9. Fiat
